Leopard

Cool Facts: The leopard is one of the four big cats that can roar (lions, tigers and jaguars are the other three). This highly adaptable cat is yellow with black spots in savannas and woodland areas and black in dense humid jungles; each of these colourations helps with camouflage in their habitats. The leopard is an expert stalker of small to medium antelope, most commonly gazelles and impalas. This cat is incredibly strong with the ability to drag its prey up a tree to avoid competition with other predators.

Habitat: Leopards have the widest east to west range of any feline. They are found from Central and South Africa through India, into South East Asia, and the Indomalayan Islands. They are adapted to the different habitat types like savannas, woodlands, rainforests, scrub-desert and mountain terrain.

Threats: Habitat loss and poaching for their beautiful furs.
